Boyd’s letters on Saarinen
Through his close friendship with Walter Gropius, Boyd was invited to be the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Bemis Professor at the School in the North American academic year 1956-7. Robin and Patricia Boyd were based in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the year. During this time, Boyd travelled widely within the USA and met with architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, Paul Rudolph and visited the offices of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and the General Motors Technical Center Detroit. During this time, Boyd wrote letters to Grounds and Romberg about these visits and who he met, including much gossip. The letters featured here recount his impressions and thoughts.
